"3D projection mapping for architecture is not just a fad. It is a profound paradigm shift, where content becomes lighting, and lighting becomes content." -- Philippe Bergeron
For permanent installations, 3D projection mapping should be incorporated in the design phase. This will prevent costly mistakes related to obstruction, light pollution, audience POV's, projector locations, focal issues, and building material.
PaintScaping has vast experience in large-scale 3D mapping, from the 11-stories-high mapping at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, to the 8-walls-in-sync at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas, or the 180-feet wide mapping on the historic Palais Montcalm in Québec City. In 2011, PaintScaping closed the annual AH&LA meeting ("American Hotel & Lodging Association"), the top lobby group for the lodging industry in Washington, DC, with a 7-minute extravaganza.
Our clients represent a veritable who's who in real estate, gaming and hospitality: MGM Resorts International, Westin Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Destination Hotels/Terranea Resort, Caruso Affiliated, Casto, Tsogo Sun Group in Africa, etc.
We've mapped a few cars, all pretty awesome. Infinitis, Lamborghinis, and BMWs. Enjoy!
Sometimes, PaintScaping gets hired to do "under the hood" tech consultation for mapping. Behind-the-scenes calculations, so to speak, like number and locations of projectors, lens calculations, blend, cable run estimates. We also produce fly-through simulations.
Before any actual projections.
Here's a couple of our consulting projects.
Corporate events have evolved over the years from simple PowerPoints to full Broadway-sized celebrations.
3D projection mapping fits right in. More and more, end users, event planners, and agencies call on PaintScaping's creative touch and tech skills for corporate projects. Trade shows, ballrooms, conferences,... The bigger, the better.
Here are some of our recent corporate extravaganzas.
PaintScaping has done a lot of "set work," either on sound stages or on-location. For Rihanna, MTV, FX, Eminem, Rod Stewart, 72andSunny, Activision, Elastic TV, Logan & Sons, John Legend Prods., DC Shoes, etc...
Since there is no real audience (other than the crew,) the only thing that counts is what reads well thru the camera.
DP's have used a wide variety of cameras with PaintScaping projections, such as Red's, Alexa's, etc...
The magic of the holiday season is brought to life in a way never thought possible with 3D projection mapping. Santa, elves, an advent calendar, snow, mistletoe, holly, can come to any event just in time for Christmas.
PaintScaping has brought Holiday magic with such clients as the Ritz-Carlton, Westin Hotels and Resorts, Caruso Affiliated, Casto, and the Quebec Winter festival.
It's as if a Monet painting came to life.
That's the power of 3D projection mapping on landscaping. But words, even images, don't do justice to this new paradigm in landscape lighting. You have to see this for yourself.
For commercial or residential. Permanent or temporary. Animated or still. It's time to paintscape your garden.
More and more, music videos are using projections -- mapped or not -- during the shoot, sometimes behind the artist, sometimes on the artist. It's different than events, since the final result is seen not live, but through a camera. Here's a couple of our latest. More to come...
Whether it's parties, concerts, or festivals, 3D projection mapping can enliven any event into something magical that will be remembered forever.
PaintScaping has been involved in special events with the Snap! Orlando premiere night with the mayor of Orlando, the red carpet premiere of Jabbawockeez at the Monte Carlo in Vegas, the annual meeting of the AH&LA in Los Angeles, the first 3D mapping festival in North America in Quebec City, the legendary Hidden Hills casino night, the tree lighting ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua in Hawaii, and many others.
More and more, colleges & universities are asking PaintScaping to create major 3D mappings, to commemorate anniversaries, honor a specific alumni, or simply to throw one heck of a party!
